“Our county is no stranger to miscarriages of justice when white men kill unarmed people of color. We hope this prayer vigil will offer some solace not only to the family members and friends of Adil in the wake of this tragedy but also to encourage law enforcement to properly investigate this case as it should have been,” said CAIR-Austin Government Affairs Manager William White.

The purpose of the vigil is to bring the community together and offer solace to the family in their calls for a full and independent investigation. Saturday’s vigil will include remarks from family and friends as well as messages of healing from local Imams and interfaith leaders.

Dghoughi was a young man seeking the American dream when he immigrated to the U.S. in 2013. He held a master’s degree in financial analysis from Johns & Wales University in Rhode Island. Dghoughi was in a vehicle with the windows rolled up when he was shot through the driver’s window. As of today, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department has not arrested or charged the alleged shooter.
