Schedule:

- Sunday, Nov. 14th Training both in-person & virtually

- Monday, Congressional meetings, rally in support of Dr. Aafia, and press conference

- Tuesday, the Final day for Congressional meetings

Why an Advocacy Day: We believe that the best way to have Dr. Aafia released from prison will be a Government to Government agreement between the United States and Pakistan. Dr. Aafia is not a U.S. citizen; she is a Pakistani national illegally renditioned to the U.S. The U.S. has no legal right to imprison her on U.S. soil, especially for a crime she did not commit. Our goal is to have several members of Congress who will publically support Dr. Aafia, which will bring renewed attention to her plight in the U.S.

Once I Register What Happens Next?: After registration, you will receive an automated email confirming that you are registered for the advocacy day. Our team will then get to work finding who your Congressional officials are. We will share that information via email so you know the names and other important information on the Congressional officials you'll be meeting. Our team will then get to work to set up a meeting between you and their office. Note that you'll also be sent an email with instructions to contact your Congressional office to set up your meeting. We encourage you to contact your Congressional offices and work to set up a meeting as well.

Can I Join Virtually From Home?: The good news is yes. This program has a virtual option which means you can join the Congressional meetings via Zoom. We hope that we will have hundreds of advocates from across the U.S. who will participate in this advocacy day due to this convenience.

How Will The In-Person Advocacy Days Work?: If you're hoping to participate in person, please continue reading. Anyone who is participating in person will need to cover their travel and lodging expenses. Our office will not be able to provide financial support. However, we will work with you to share logistics for booking flights and good locations to stay. On Sunday, we will hold a training in D.C. for our in-person guests. The training will also be available virtually as well. All-day Monday will be Congressional meetings. We will also hold a rally in support of Dr. Aafia, along with a press conference.

I've Never Done Anything Like This; what About Training: If you've never participated in an advocacy day either in person or virtually no problem, the CAIR-Texas Austin & DFW team has you covered. We will provide several Zoom training for all advocates participating in the advocacy day. We will provide talking points, informational packets, and other materials to make sure you are fully prepared for the advocacy day.

How Can My Organizations Partner for this Advocacy Day: We would be delighted to have your organization become a partner for this Advocacy Day. Your logo will be included in all of our promotions and listed in our press releases as a partner. Partnering organizations will also be invited to the host committee meetings to plan this advocacy day, get insights into Dr. Aafia's case and condition, and discuss strategy with the international coalition working to free her. The injustice involved in Dr. Aafia's case is unacceptable, and your organization can take a moral stance to stand for justice for Aafia.
